Delhi Metro Phase 4: Recently, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) marked another milestone in the pandemic and built the first subway girder of its Phase 4 project in the Janakpuri West metro corridor-RK Ashram Marg.
The subway beam, an important part of the elevated viaducts built for the subway corridors, was located near the Kali Mata temple in Delhi between the upcoming Pushpanjali subway station and the Deepali Chowk subway station built along the highway from the outer ring road. According to the DMRC, this is a standard span with two U-beams with a length of 28 meters each and a total weight of a U-beam of around 160 tons. In early June this year, the DMRC began casting the U-beams at the casting area in Mundka.
All over the world, subway girders are widely used in subway projects because, in addition to ensuring better quality, they also save construction time. After casting, these U-beams are brought to the construction site and launched with high-performance launchers/cranes.
Under this contract, no less than 780 U-beams are to be erected. U-beams are prestressed U-shaped beams on which railing can be made immediately. Meticulous precision and planning are required for the casting of these U-beams. Additionally, absolute care must be taken during the casting process with regard to adherence to all measurements and parameters.
